Side by Side: Festival Concert

Ticket release March 17, 10:00

The Side by Side music camp invites you to the festival concert

Experience Festival Concert on 16 June as Side by Side fills Scandinavium with 2,000 young orchestra musicians and choir singers together with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra. A spectacular concert marking the grand finale of the music camp, featuring symphonic music, soaring choral pieces, and powerful arrangements. Tickets go on sale 17 March via Ticketmaster.

The concert includes a historic moment as the finale from Augusta Holmès’ Ode Triomphale is performed for the first time since its premiere at the 1889 World’s Fair in Paris. A monumental work requiring massive choirs and orchestras, which is why it has not been performed for 137 years.

In addition to this unique piece, the programme features a repertoire of iconic film music and Nordic tones, including music from Mission: Impossible, The Mandalorian, and Frozen. ABBA is also celebrated in a specially written arrangement, and Georg Riedel’s classic from Emil of Lönneberga takes its rightful place as well.

Festival Concert is the culmination of Side by Side, the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra’s international music camp for children and young people. Here, connections are made across borders, side by side with professional musicians, in an initiative that celebrates community, collaboration, and the power of music.
