UTS Tour makes its Swedish debut at Scandinavium
UTS Tour comes to Sweden for the first time! On 12–13 December, some of the world’s leading male tennis players will gather at Scandinavium for UTS Gothenburg – a fan-friendly competition that combines fast-paced, spectacular tennis with an electric atmosphere.
Five of the eight players set to compete in Scandinavium have been confirmed: Stefanos Tsitsipas, Brandon Nakashima, Holger Rune, Alexander Bublik and Luciano Darderi. In front of up to 10 000 spectators, the players will battle for pirxe money of USD 1 million, while the UTS Tour's year-end world No. 1 will be crowned during the seasons prestigious Super Stage Final.
The competition runs across two days. Day one stages the quarter-finals, with four matches deciding who advances. Day two builds to the climax with classification matches, the semi-finals and the final — five matches in total to crown the champion and settle the year-end standings.
About UTS
UTS offers tennis in a completely new way through an innovative, fan-friendly format designed to deliver spectacular tennis and maximum engagement. Matches are played at high intensity and are limited to 45 minutes.
Experience eight of the world's top tennis players competing in a fast-paced, intense, immersive, and interactive tournament that delivers spectacular tennis entertainment through an innovative ruleset:
- Each match consists of four 8-minute quarters, with simplified scoring (1 point won = 1 point scored).
- The player who wins three quarters wins the match. If the score is tied at 2-2, the winner is decided by a sudden-death finish, where the first player to win two consecutive points claims victory.
- Only one serve is allowed per point, and there is a maximum of 15 seconds between points.
- Tactical bonus cards can be used during matches.
UTS Gothenburg by BNP Paribas will be played over two competition days in a single-elimination format, featuring a total of nine matches.
Day 1, December 12
All players will be in action.
Day 2, December 13 – Final Four
Two semifinals, one final, and two placement matches featuring the players who lost their quarterfinals. All players will be in action.
Fans are encouraged to cheer between and during the points, creating a high-energy atmosphere more similar to football and handball matches than traditional tennis events. They even hear from the players during the match thanks to live interviews between the quarters.
See you at Scandinavium!
