Arena facts about Scandinavium

Scandinavium was designed by Poul Hultberg, and opened on 18 May 1971 as part of Gothenburg’s 350th anniversary celebrations. In 1991, the facility was extended with a new entrance, restaurant, offices and dressing rooms. In 2006, Scandinavium was completely repainted in silver grey and decorated with spectacular lighting that changes colour depending on the event. In 1999, Got Event took over as events operator at Scandinavium. The arena is owned by Higab.

  • In autumn 2012 and spring 2013 all the seats were upgraded and given new colours.
  • 2017 – accessibility was improved and the brand new Glöd Kök & Bar restaurant opened, with space for 700 guests. Arena Bar & Restaurant changes its name to Pouls Restaurang.

Scandinavium is the home stadium of the Frölunda HC ice hockey team.

  • Mia Skäringer Lázár is the record holder for most sold-out performances at Scandinavium. Over 55,000 people saw her show Avig Maria - No More Fucks To Give during a total of six sold-out performances 2017 and 2019.

Scandinavium is part of the European Arenas Association (EAA)

Scandinavium is a member of the European cooperation organization European Arenas Association (EAA). It is an organization with representatives from 19 countries that operates 38 indoor arenas. Last year, the arenas together held over 3,200 events with almost 24 million visitors.

Among other things, we collaborate on security issues, and we also get the opportunity to compare ourselves to Europe's top arenas.
